Dyslexia

DYSLEXIA is a permanent and specific learning difficulty, of neurobiological origin, which is characterized by difficulties in the precise and fluent recognition of words (decoding) and by spelling errors when writing (coding), these alterations being the result of a deficit in the phonological component, and therefore prevents the normalized acquisition and development of reading because the brain processes this type of information in a different way. Such difficulties occur despite normal cognitive development and adequate school instruction. As secondary consequences, problems in reading comprehension and a reduced reading experience can appear that can affect the development of vocabulary and the acquisition of knowledge. (Carmen Silva).

Dyslexia is much more than having problems with reading and writing, it also involves problems with comprehension, short-term memory, access to the lexicon, spatio-temporal notions, the notion of quantity, with the abstract that they cannot handle or see. …

In addition, no two dyslexics are the same, therefore, each case is unique and does not have to present all the symptoms.

If it is not detected in time, it is not diagnosed correctly and it is not treated effectively, it exposes the child to repeated failed experiences, which causes a lack of motivation for learning and favors the appearance of associated problems that affect self-esteem and emotional well-being of the child.

The child may show:
  • Signs of anxiety, sadness, frustration or disappointment.
  • behavioral problems such as misbehavior
The way to identify it is through a psychopedagogical report.
